Urinary Tract Infections
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection that can affect any part of the urinary system, including the bladder, urethra, ureters, or kidneys. Most UTIs involve the bladder and are caused by bacteria entering the urinary tract.
Common symptoms include a burning feeling when urinating, frequent urge to urinate, cloudy or strong-smelling urine, and lower abdominal discomfort. UTIs are more common in women but can affect anyone.
With proper treatment, usually antibiotics, UTIs are often easily resolved. Drinking plenty of fluids and good hygiene habits can help reduce the risk of infection.
