Diabetes
Diabetes is a long-term condition that affects how your body uses sugar (glucose), which is a main source of energy. Normally, a hormone called insulin helps move sugar from your blood into your cells. In diabetes, your body either doesn’t make enough insulin or can’t use it properly, causing sugar to build up in the blood.
Over time, high blood sugar can lead to health problems like heart disease, kidney issues, and nerve damage. With proper care—including healthy eating, regular activity, monitoring, and medication if needed—diabetes can be effectively managed.
